Its true you can use more than 1 broker(read brokerage firms) using the same CDS account. The first four eg B015 indicates the brokers code, however your CDS number remains the same. The CDS system works in a way that each broker can access your CDS account ONLY on the deals he has transacted for you. IF you buy Kengen with Dyer&blair and Kenya-Re with Discount securities,DB CAN'T be able to view Kenya-Re from their side and vice versa
Successful business people move ideas, the converse is not true

@ masinza
ati you can operate with different brokers with the same Cds No.
unless its a new concept,i dont think so.............but you can update or correct me.
coz in each Cds No. the first 4 numbers bear the brokers code, like B012,that for D&B and all other 18 brokers have there codes..........
or else you meant you can have two individual brokers but not two brokerage firms using the same CDS No.

Hi Discussants,
This is new to me. Looks like there is a general consensus that it works. Question is; do you guys operate the same cds a/c with all the different brokers or is it a different cds for each broker?
When buying shares, ask yourself, would you buy the whole company?

2 stockbrokers ? [black] Saturday, November 24, 2007 14:53
you can deal with all 18 stockbrokers if you wanted !
no restrictions on the number of stockbrokers tou can use !
the catch is that shares bought by a stockbroker must be sold by the same broker
however you can transfer the same to your preferred broker for 200 per transfer !
the richest heritage you can be born into is POVERTY !

Brokers Competence on Sourcing [mabrown] Saturday, November 24, 2007 14:32
Most of the brokers are good in sourcing depending on wether they were advisors on Past issues ; Debt or Equity Capital Raising for the respective companies.
Dyer and Blair were advisors to Cables buyout by Transcentury,Kengen IPO and Jimnah is shareholder of Equity indirectly thro his 15% shareholding in Britak and also 40% shareholding in AIG Global.
Discount was one of the first brokers to set up shop in Mumias Town when Mumias was about to do its IPO,first mover advantage.
Kestrel good in and Sourcing Kenol since their CEO was once at KENOL and behind their Mergers and Acqusitions, also KPLC and EABL.
Tsavo Securities good in sourcing Olympia Capital,by virtue of being advisors on their rights issue and Treasury Bonds in the Secondary market.

I started with Suntra. Their sevices were a nightmare!I had uchumi shares with them and as i was selling, they were telling me to buy instead!I banged the desk and said sell. They could take 7 days to write you a check. If you had money in the account and wanted to use the same for IPO,they could tell tell you to deposit the exact figure in there IPO account! Hell, they write you a check, after 7 days you get it,and you convert it to cash and redeposit it back to them!
I moved to APEX Africa & dier Blair. These have served me well and efficiently none of bove nonesense happens there.

i do. its better in more ways than one. the brokers would in most cases advise on the same investments. interestingly, you will find that brokers almost specialise in particular shares. like dyer & blair can get you Equity or cables or kengen with a lot of ease. discountcan get you mumias chap chap. suntra can get you barclays, nation pretty fast. i dont know how this happens but i can safely say that since i started using two brokers (individuals not firms) i have gotten a bit more enlightened.
