@Dizzy,
Define long term . Is it 5 years,10 years ......
Steven Smith hasnt put on the table his long term prospects and plans so that as investors,we can tell whether or not they are viable and also to give us a reason to hold on to the counter.
If your focus is on long term growth,then base it on the firm's long term plans otherwise you will get your fingers burnt.
Happy investing !

Folks,
I believe if you are an investor,you will buy products from the company you invested in.
If that is the case,how many of us here who have Eveready shares ever buy their products ?
Complain if the profits are going southwards but at the end of the day,buy a pack of Eveready batteries.
This counter is weak . It was not meant for the stock market.
Pole to all those who have a stake in it. This idea of diversification into other product lines and venturing into regional markets does not wash with me.
If it goes up,it will be next year,but 10 !
Happy investing !

Actually this stock is for short term purposes only. I expect minimal price increamants due to speculation arising from the devidend,thereafter the price will plumet as people sell so as to migrate to other counters.

Tsavo Securities have advised a hold for Eveready since its diversifying its product portfolio despite facing compe from Haco Industries which is selling lithium batteries in the market. Though on a personal level I would think its advisable if Eveready made in roads to the greater lakes region where it would have a larger market than Kenya which is ambushed with counterfeits.

I agree that buying for the dividends is a good deal. Have you considered that the reported losses will push the price downwards? I will not be touching it soon. Buy into strong companies to be sure.

this represents a minimum of 5% profits in say two months. if you have kshs. 1000,000 you will be able to buy 120,000 shares which will yield some 54,000 bob devidend. and if youi factor in the price increase of one bob per share........mmmmm why not say 170,000 profit?
