i think the best idea is that one to do with importing and selling of computer parts, that is one you are sure will always boom..

coz people will always want new hardware and new hardware is invented every day,

alternatively,if internet will get people in their houses, you can buy and re-sell bandwidth

Slykat,i guess you got this all wrong, people were just responding to the first reply by Mwenyewe who had suggested CyberCafe and other additionals,it doesnt mean they think cybers is all there is in ICT.

Then again i guess what they are just trying to say is that Cybers might not be a very big deal  afterall in the long run,not because they will diminish but because due to the optic fibre the services will be so cheap it will be hard to make anything meaningful out of it.

How about importing computer parts and accessories, selling lap tops and giving consultancy services at the same time...........just an idea though am not sure how much capital that would need esp the importing part

cybercafes here to stay! [slykat]

How did some of these guys pass their academic exams? the ping is talking about ICT proposals and not cybercafes. Some replies are just about how cybers have no future!

Well,I have no ICT proposal expertise.

But let me differ and say that cybercafes are here to stay! Just coz we can make Kahawa No. 1 at home does not mean that Java and the likes are doomed.

People posting these comments are rich, have connected computers at home or at work. the simple truth is that most kenyan's cannot afford a computer and will always use cybercafes from time to time. Even the new gadgets will be expensive.

Just like public phones & simu za jamiis, cybercafe's operate on the principle of sharing an expensive resource thus making it available to those who cannot afford.  As long as  Kenyans do not have computers and internet for private use, they will visis cybers!

When buying shares, ask yourself, would you buy the whole company?

I went to this cyber in hurlingham-calling the states is 2.50 /=  during their happy hour.Would you believe it!
Anyway-point is,excellent location for such a biz. and esp with 500k in ICT,the best way out is to look at investing in a small profitable ICT business and make returns of  around 20/25%....

Cyber Biz is dying the DODO way !

Wait untill Japan's latest Settlite Internet goes Live in a Couple of months...speeds of upto 1.2 GB Pers Second will be achievable by this Technology throughout the Habitable Parts of the Globe !

Subscribers will be able to access Hyper-Speed Internet Via Hand-Held Devices like PDAs & Mobiles almost for Free.

Internet Connections will Be Dirt Cheap... Cybers and some ISPs will close down sooner than later. I dont know whether some companies like ACCESS-K will REJOICE or RECOIL ..it all depends on how adaptive they shall be when that time comes.!

The Technology is on the last Part of Testing & Implementation..with the Rocket already in Space to Launch KIZUNA, the Wireless Internet Setllite.

Fiber Obtic Cables will take to the Back-Bench as BACK-UP when the KIZUNA Sneezes..
