Hi,

I have been watching KQ drop from about 140 to the current price of 65. I wonder,is it time to buy since it looks to be at its lowest?

Politicians are liars and tell the electorate what's sweet to their ears.... most vote cause people are voting but they dont know what they are voting in. Raila is ignorant of stock trading.... once he gets the presidency we will come in and show him what to do.... Now lets allow him to get the thing then we will raech him through Anyang Nyongo and Omingo Magara to correct this.... Raila has no interest in NSE once he gets the thing you wont hear him giving market comments. I talked to him in Colorado and he stated he knows that stock market is influenced by market forces.... I will add afew Kenair to my portfolio at the price range of Kshs.21-32. Those who think the stock is cheap at 62 thougth it was cheap at 96. at this time of electioneering, cash is KING.

This ODM candidate keeps uttering reckless comments on real or perceived dealings of companies listed on the NSE.

See last years shareholding structure as contained in the link  below: http://www.kenya-airways.com/kqdispinfo.aspx?colm=105&cname=Investor_information\Shareholder_Profile

Counter check with previous posts. Can you entrust the leadership of this country with such a person who has again lied to Kenyans for populist purposes or simply can't get his math right - repeatedly?

Such comments do little to instill/preserve investor confidence which impacts on this company's share price.

KQ TO FERRY KHAT ACCORDING TO ODM [Eddiemundu]
Monday, October 29, 2007 18:41

Dear Brothers and sisters,

According to Hon Raila among "Other Promises "   KQ and other Establishments,Private or Public after ODM Takes Over, they will have to think twice Or Else....

This is what he said in MERU over the weekend;

  • The Government owns 75% of KENYA AIRWAYS and therefore the ODM Government will Give it a Directive to Ferry MIRAA (Khat)!

Mr Waiting President i beg to differ. KQ is a Private Entity and you cannot give Directives on how it should Operate or what they must Ferry! For your Information,KQ's Structure reads as Follows;

(Dutch carrier KLM owns 26% of Kenya Airways, the Kenyan government 23% and the rest of the shares (51%)are traded on the Nairobi and Uganda Stock Exchanges.)

The only way to make the Govnt a Major Share holder is by Taking over Private Ownership by Reversing the 1996 IPO !

  • Kenya Airways Operates under International Aviation Guidelines and it is a member of IATA,SKYWARDS TEAM among other Aviation Bodies and it is a signitory to Global anti-Narcotics Declarations that Shun all manner of anti social Drugs and Narcotis among them MIRAA ! I believe the  International Airline that did the last narcotics Haul was Afhganistan Airlines!

Even Personal  Medical Drugs need a supporting Prescription go on board.

I stand to be Corrected

Now that you are Promising too much what do we as KQ Shareholders Read!

Will you push Directives down the throats of Private Companies among other Publicly Quoted ones...and so what is the FATE OF NSE JUST ONE WEEK AFTER YOUR ASSURANCE that NSE is Safe??

Please guys Wake up and Listen to Raila b4 you Vote him In !!

I would answer the following questions.
1 - What does this company do and who are the competitors.  (personal answer, fly people and competition is only getting stiffer)
2 - How will they beat off any competition coming their way. (personal answer, totally overhaul procedures... especially safety.  Offer better deals and/or service.  I believe they are investing heavily in this... I would wait to see the  fruits of that investment)
3 - Would you be happy to hold these stock if the exchange "disappeared" (personal answer... NO,I would panic)

thoughts anybody?

There are better stocks now. Why throw you hard earned money into a pit?

Refer to www.dyerandblair.com . 2007 review. KQ is listed as one of the stocks to avoid.

KQ's management is choatic, worst customer care in aviation industry and they do not seem to care about it. No would suggest that you buy when it hits 20 bob,or atleast if there are signs that they are interested in sorting out its customer care business, failure to which their planes are going to run without passangers. Remember Delta is coming in June 2008 and they have a policy  that customer is  always' King'.

KQ registered 19% fall in PAT http://www.nse.co.ke/newsite/pdf/announcements/Kenya%20Airways%20Half%20Year%20Results.pdf.

Bear in mind only 3 months of that had compe from Virgin-Airways.

And they sound scared about the future too.

Wait for it to drop to Ksh55.

Is Kenya airways a good buy at 65? [Hedges]

KQ has been having a rough ride, literally speaking !

At 65shs,its a good buy. Its fundamentals look good and I believe they have sorted out their customer care issues which was a critical problem .

As for operational risks like rising fuel prices, they cannot have much control over it except carrying out hedging . But this is a problem faced by all major airlines,so they can comfortably adopt similar strategies when dealing with it.

I believe their business model is different from that one of Virgin Atlantic in the sense that they target mainly the African market. Most of their competitors get their revenues from overseas routes.

Its a long term buy as most stock brokerage firms would advise. Its current price is a discount so, accumulate now because transport is not a luxury, its a necessity.

Happy investing.

KQ good buy. Considerations, investing or trading (has slim margin)?

  1. The pros
  • Lowest Price to Earning in the commercial sector~ way below.
  • Some of the price decline attributable to sentiment as opposed to actual decline in performance.

2. The Cons

  • The biggest cost is fuel. Global prices on increase.
  • New entrants; stiff competition from Atlantic.
